Gernot Schäffter has worked in the payment card business since the early 1990s. In 1992 he co-founded RS2 Software together with his father Reinhold Schäffter and helped build it until 2000 – in sales, project management, implementation, software architecture and development. The company grew to around 120 employees in several locations, serving banks and processors across Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan and Africa.

Since 2003 he has advised processors, acquirers, banks and card schemes as Schäffter Consulting – among them AtosWorldline, Deutsche Card Services, MasterCard Advisors and several major German and international acquirers. His focus is product management, migrations, PSD2/SCA, 3-D Secure and PCI DSS.

Alongside consulting, he has run his own short-term rental business in Germany’s Odenwald region since 2018 – 22 apartments with a high degree of automation across all processes.
